    Rest In Peace
    Friday, June 26, 2009

Today the world mourns the passing of a great legend in the world of dance, music, stage and entertainment. He entered the world as spreads his passion for what he loves doing with the world. He has inspired the growth and birth of many artistes, singers, performers, dancers. His works are world class, his voice is world class, his moves are world class, he is world class.

    Rest In Peace

    MICHAEL JOSEPH JACKSON
    (
    August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009)

He is one of my favorite artistes that ever walked on this planet. Though his life has been stained and scarred by scandals, controversies and a whole lot of paparazzis, he is still one of the most loved figure. His songs are magnificent and meaningful, each line brings out a feeling that touches the hearts of the masses. My heart was stolen by his songs. A few of the memorable songs that makes me remember of him are Heal The World, Man In The Mirror, the can-never-forget Thriller, Beat It, Black and White, One More Chance. His dance moves are also unforgettable especially the well known MoonWalk that I can never do ever so nicely like he does. It has been a really sad day for the entire world, we have lost one of the greatest person that ever lived. We did not get to see him make a great comeback and to exit his career gracefully like he always does. We did not get a chance to hear new materials from him. We did not get to see him dance one more time and spread joy to our hearts. However, we did get to remember him our entire lives, we did get to sing and think about his the lyrics of his songs, we did get to learn and dance his moves, we did get joy everytime we think, see, hear and breathe him. He will definitely be an eternal icon in our hearts.

I Was The First To Be Amped With Lady GAGA!!!
    Tuesday, June 16, 2009

I know it's been 2 days late, so here is my update.

GUESS WHAT??? I watched LADY GAGA live in SINGAPORE!!! yey... my first ever concert and I was watching Lady Gaga swinging her disco stick!!! It was the coolest ever experience and that would have to be one of the most memorable moments of 2009.

So here is how the day go...

It was like about 3.50 and i received an SMS from JJ. I was wearing my clothes and ready to leave the house. And my playlist was playing Poker Face, so I decided to wait until the song is finished before stepping out of the house. And by then it was like 3.55. Then i made my way to the bus stop, and the bus was already waiting there. I tried running after it, but i was a little too late. I was cussing at the bus while making a long walk to the circus and took 315. On the bus, I texted JJ about the whole thing (except the Poker Face part). And I arrived at 2.15 on time at the interchange and i thought that i could make a run to the MRT station. I entered from the nearest entrance and to my horror... it was a long way walk to the NEL. I was like "seriously..." thank goodness there is a travellator and i zoomed to the other end like i was flash... weird expression, I know, mark me for that...

Then i thought that JJ is already at the platform and at that moment the train arrived. I was like trying to make the right decision whether to enter the train or search through the platform. So being the wrong choice person, I decided to wait at the platform... ARGH!!! could have made it onto the train.... So in the end met him there and we chatted for a while about some people who were on the list of GAGA invites. Then the train came, and we boarded (DUH!). Then talked more nonsense and shenanegans... Then we alighted at Clarke Quay, and tried to find that damn dome that doesnt look like a dome but 3 humps with a long bar behind. We walked and walked and saw cool boards that says "Amped with LADY GAGA: Queue here" or some sort like that. However, the line has not even began. So we decide to go the never-known-where-it-was LIANG COURT, which is like this super japanese shopping mall with really aromatic teriyaki meals. We were like holding back our taste buds because the food is really expensive... so we decided to quench our hunger and thirst with a bottle of SPRITE and 7UP(each).

Then we were like talknig about soft drinks giving us false satisfaction because it is like filling our stomach with carbon dioxide and after we burp, the hunger is back. So all the while i was trying to keep my burps, because seriously i was feeling hungry and i don't want to move away from the queue(oh the GAGA queue has started). Of course during the course of jumping for joy for GAGA, the burps started to come.

Now in the line, we met some familiar faces. We met ZHSS gang (the girl group) and they were like painting lightnings on their faces. And they were mean because they didnt let us into their queue. SO, we went all the way to the end of the line and started cussing(figuratively). okay we waited like for 2 hours or so until we were let into the "dome". During that time, we were like classifying people. The Underdressed, overdressed and the eccentric. Seriously la. There are people there who like came to watch Lady gaga in like a tshirt and jeans, some wearing shiny stuff and everything, and others like trying to dress to impress. Then we saw YOUNG n DAN came. (btw, in person they are not funny at all) Then razortv came along and interviewed people who were in the line. And they were like interviewing the person right in front of us and we wer caught in the camera. However when you check the video on razortv, we aren't in it because while they were interviewing, we were like talking about this funny commercial on tv about this guy trying to advertise while a reporter was making a report. so funny la, and we giggled all along. Haha, then we were like using our mind power trying to make the razortv people to go the ZHSS girls and interview them, and they were like running away... haha...

Then we were let into the "dome" and they were plucking things off from this card thingy which is like a lucky draw thing, which after the showcase we realised it was for a meet and greet session for lady gaga, which we didnt win, which one aunty, one geeky dude, one blur girl who appeared from nowhere, and 2 brothers won. While we walk into the dome, i was like taken aback by a guy carrying a camera running towards me. Then we laughed at the whole incident. In the dome it was like an exhibition thingy and we met the ZHSS girls, and one of them held my hand tightly and JJ was like being a loner... (HAHA) then the funny and awesome thing is that the girl group was separated and the girl holding onto my hands was left behind... and she was like begging the security to let her in. However, it was "nice" (sort of) of the security for not letting her, and then they led us to the other corner of the field which was like completely empty and we made a run for the corner closest to the stage!!! YEY!!! We were like so excited because we get to see LADY GAGA up close (like for real)!!!

it was pretty bittersweet for the girl, but mostly sweet because she is with us... HAhA... and then it was like 1 hour plus of head banging and ear explosive music by the DJs. Well, i wouldnt say that it is totally good, because there were some bad tunes that they played and for some moments i wanted to shout "CHANGE TO THE NEXT TRACK!!!" But i was nice... Then DAN n YOUNG came on stage and did some unhilarious and unexciting introduction to the whole event. I thought the whole time that RADIo DJs will be as good as hosts as they were on air. AND THAT PROVED IT TOTALLY WRONG!!! then more tunes by the featured DJ Paul T which i mistook for paul twohill. haha... And then, moment has arrived...

THE SCREEN CAME DOWN AND LADY GAGA'S INTRODUCTION VIDEO PLAYED. EVERYONE JUMPED AND SCREAMED EVERYTIME LADY GAGA OPENED HER MOUTH ON THE VIDEO, AND THE COUNTDOWN STARTED. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3

    Good entertainment
    Sunday, June 7, 2009

Yey!!! it's a double post today!!! actually wanted to make a single post with the previous, but the title of that post is not appropriate for So You Think You Can Dance.

Now this is what you call entertainment! SYTYCD is a serious good show that mediacorp should consider broadcasting locally. However, i don't think the production crew will do good because i have seen their work, and it was seriously a disaster. however, SYTYCD is not about the production crew although they make a huge part. The show is all about the dancers and the choreographers. and again, I have not seen many good dancers in Singapore, and the choreographies are not that great either. Taking in all the factors, SINGAPORE DON'T PRODUCE SYTYCD!!! You are going to ruin the good name of SYTYCD!

anyway, 2 posts back i was talking about so you think you can dance Canada and Australia. And I have finished with Canada's version, and guess what, September there will be a new season of SYTYCDC. And I really have to applaud SYTYCDC because like what Mary Murphy said, and it's true SYTYCDC is like the best version of any SYTYCD that ever exists. They have the greatest dancers, best choreographies, and most brilliant production crew. Although, the host could have been better and the short clips could have been sharper. However, overall i really think that they have done a wonderful job. Furthermore, SYTYCDC features a lot of good Ballroom/latin numbers and the jazz/contemporary pieces are spectacular. Not so much for the hip hop though, they could have gotten better choreographers. Although SYTYCDC recycles a lot of US choreographers and contestants, but truly they are brilliant, although i have to say Benji Schwimmer is the worst choreographer ever. I don't see a story line at all, the technique is bad. However, i have to say the opposite for Blake McGrath. He is like the male version of Mia Michaels, all his works are top notch and brilliantly thought out.

I have been watching SYTYCD Australia as well, and it was not as good. Indeed the judges give good criticism, however, they are not as fun. I thought that Nigel Lythgoe's sister will be better than he is, but no, she is the most boring judge ever, she doesn't know dance, and she keeps asking questions and more questions, and more questions. YOU HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT DANCE!!! Switch her with kelley abbey, because she is a much better judge!

And this is way out of topic, but i really need to get a new signature. I'll think about that...

    Bad entertainment

Singapore embrace yourself for yet another lousy productions by the Mediacorp. I understand they are trying to reach out to the local community with an international name, but after twice of failures, the idea should have been retired for good. However, they are once again trying to recreate the BLEAH moment. Singapore Idol is back people!!! [sarcastically]

I understand that Singapore is trying to expand the music industry by holding these singing competitions. Look at Battle of the Band, Project Superstar and it's spin off, Teenage Icon, Live the Dream. How far have they gone in the industry? Winner of 1st SI is the face of Seven Eleven!!! Really!!! that's how much you can give to these people? Don't you have anything better to offer to these people? Oh, don't even speak about drama appearances. It's like only immediately after the competition that they get it, aside from that, off they go back under the rocks... okay, bad analogy but anyway.

Aside from the poor media that Singapore offers and the unoriginal ideas, it is incomparable to other countries... Not in a good way.

Anything i hate most than that is when people are such divas even before they go big. when you see people auditioning for competitions and they cuss and criticise other people even when they are not good themselves is totally disrespectful. You are in no way to possess such characteristics because you are just as bad or worse than the other people. you are still a small fry in a fish tank, who are you to say bad things about them.

here is a video i found of a guy who was auditioning for SI, and we was complaining for the whole video about the management committee not being efficient and all. Seriously, you are auditioning for something you wanted, and here you are just saying things about the harsh conditions that you have to face while in the line. have you not seen other countries' talent competitions? They sat under the sun, stood in the rain, embrace the strong winds, and have to sleep on cold pavements. And they said nothing about it (Well, i've never seen a post of their comments). You know why? because they wanted to win this, and they will go through any hardship to get what they want. And I don't even think you have the chops to be the SI, anyway, you won't even get anywhere when you become one. In short, Just shut your blabber hole.

    SYTYC Dance
    Saturday, June 6, 2009

Woohoo!!! I am so happy this week. Okay let me break it down.

    1) Final week of rehearsal of the EnviroDance, till 27 June of course.

    2) US Version of SYTYCD has revealed their top 20. I am so happy that some of the hot favourites are in, but I am still disappointed that this year is no different from other years, there are only 2 ballroom/latin dancers, and 2 salsa dancers. How disappointing. I just wish that they will put in more ballroom/latin dancers, we are sick of contemporary, give us more diversity.

    3) I just got my Canada's and Australia's Version of SYTYCD. And I have to say that i am very happy that Canada focuses more on latin/ballroom dancers. There are more of them than US version. Furthermore, there are more Ballroom/Latin choreographies done on the show, probably because one of the lead judge is of course the ever brilliant Jean-Marc Generaux. I love his work, and i just wish that i can one day work with him. And I have to say that Australia have better judges, because they actually tell the contestants what was wrong with their dancing, and they are honest with it.

4)GAGA!!! all week, i have tried to win tickets to Lady Gaga's showcase from 987, however, to no avail of course. I will have to send my bill to them, because i spent a lot of money just trying to get those freaking passes. Anyway, my chance is still alive thanks to Singtel. and please people, help me when i ask you to.

    5) It's the holidays!!! now i can start to seriously focus on practising my basics of latin/ballroom. And I have to really thank one teacher for generously sharing with me materials to learn. Thank you Ms Audrey.

    6) My grandma is coming next week. yey... so i will probably be on hiatus for a while.

    7) I am going to start pumping up... haha, yeah, i know that i am not going to start like any time soon. But i really need to built up my upper body strength so that i can do lifts, and not because some teacher asked me too. And of course to lose those flabs... hehehe....

Okay, Lucky 7 things that happened to me that make me happy.

    XOXO

    EnviroDance Aftermath
    Wednesday, June 3, 2009

So today was the aftermath of yesterday's disastrous dance competition, well the organisers that is.

We had a total makeover of the choreography because apparently the judges are stupid. Can't interpret dances, need everything to be so literal and everything... It looks better after the makeover, and i think it's going to work so much better now. However, the props i don't think is going to help much with the competition because it kinda looks rusty right now.

Anyway, let's look aside from the dance competition. Apparently, my news of starting an IG has spread, people from the society have already asked me whether they can participate in it. YES, you can, but if you do, please find a male partner, so that it doesn't look odd numbered. And today, the teacher in charge was asking how many people are going to stay in the society, apparently, not many are going to. currently, there are 14, and i am guessing that it will be much lesser soon. And you might wonder why... because people want to learn things that the "dance" society offers. Yes, like i told you like last post, Dance is diverse, but apparently, this society only focuses on the world of Jazz and Contemporary. Sadly, i am not the president because the teacher is not accomodative to changes... i wanted to change the way the society is being managed, but they are unhappy. Well, if the society is continuing with this, they are going to lose participation.

Well, i ain't going to say anymore about this society, because right now i am not happy with it.

So again, my IG is all about social dancing/partner dancing. We are going to teach you several basics of ballroom/latin. WE are to have lots of fun and we are gonig to have the opportunity to participate in school performances and probably be teaching lifeskills. So if you are a girl, and you want to join, please invite a male friend to dance with you. And if you are a male, don't worry, we can definitely find you a female partner. So if you want to join, please contact me from the contacts page.

    EnviroDance
    Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Today was the preliminary rounds of the EnviroDance, not gonna specify the sponsors because clearly the competition was not popular at all. I was so damn pissed with the organisers for not putting in much effort to pull in more competitors. The thing is only 5 schools were there and guess what? 5 schools are participating in the finals. I was like... What the shit was that! so much preparation, and it's a no brainer entrance into the finals. I felt i was being pranked.

I know that a lot of people wanted to come and watch the performance, although they are unable to come, I am still happy that they wanted to. Anyway, there is no need to come anyway because first thing, the prelim was held in a school auditorium located like at the roof top. Then the stage was like super crammed, and the seats are uncomfortable. No refreshments were served. So we are pratically cheated by the organisers.

Okay performance wise, because of all the technical problems, it was screwed. The space was constricted. I had to cut a step off the travelling steps. And in the end i was 2 beats off... Seriously, at that point i just felt like dropping out of the competition because the organisers practically don't even care for the dance pieces, they just want us to spread the message of environment. I was like, seriously!!! all the dancers were so good, and all you care about is us spreading messages? WE are dancers for goodness sakes, not activists... Yeah we can incorporate movements that symbolises environment, but we are making it subtle, not direct expression. if you want direct, have people to do skits instead, don't make us dance throwing rubbish.

and I was cheering for Raffles Girls group because i think that their performance was not bad and they have good song choice. I was cherring for them, but apparently some boobs thought that i was poking fun at them. I am the type of person when i want to have fun, I make fun. I don't try to be another person and be solemn even if i want to let things go.

So today i expressed my unhappiness to the teacher in charge. Actually there are more things that I want to say to him, but i don't want to overwhelm him. The thing is the dance society is a scam. First of all dance is very wide, there's hip hop/jazz/contemp/standard ballroom/latin. I was convinced to join the dance society because i was told the society would love to have people who can do partner dancing. BUT, it was all a scam, because the dance don't do partner dancing, and guys are forbidden to partner dance because the teachers felt that we are not mature to handle such behaviour. Anyway, this society is a total scam because after i joined, i was told that they were doing hip hop this year, which was total crapness because what they teach us is a no brainer. Put your hands there, put your leg there, kick, punch, jump. SERIOUSLY. If i knew that i was going to learn that, i might as well take dancing lessons from miley cyrus. she can't dance a single bit. I want to learn things that alyson stoner does. I want to learn hip hop liek the ones i see on step up. So, i approached the teacher and told him that. oh, he's not the ones teaching us the dance, he's just there as a figure of authority. I told him that if what they are going to teach us is that, I am not continuing to be a member after the competition. Because seriously, the society is not pushing us as a dancer, not making us better, developing our potential. what they teach us is so simple, so basic, our skills and ability remains stagnant there. I want to be a better dancer by joining the society. So i told him that. Even if they are going to do contemporary, if they are not giving us better materials, i am leaving the society.

furthermore, the society practises sexual discrimination. They are giving the girls mroe things to work on, where else the guys? we just go down on the floor, stay still until the girls do their choreo. Guys and girls should be treated as equals in the society. Furthermore, the guys are given mroe simple choreos than the girls...

Anyway, I am starting an IG. This IG is dance orientated. No contemporary, no hip hop. It's strictly standard ballroom/latin. Yes, this IG is all about Social Dancing. I am trying to get contacts with the Hip Hop crew in nanyang to participate in this IG as well, but right now I am pleading to you all NYJC-ians, if you are interested, please contact me.

    XOXO
